rice-lights
the rice lights are a reinterpretation of the traditional rice paper lamp. rugged plastic replaces delicate paper, and commercial logos and graphics become the visual surface of the object. by using mass produced rice sacks as the primary material, the lamps shift attention from refinement to reuse, from ornament to context. each piece is made from commercially available rice bags, transforming everyday packaging into a functional light object. all rice was consumed before construction.
